Women always come to the shop and ask us why theirs clothes are not more like our mens product, in terms of details and structure, ie shirting, blazers etc.. Well thanks to Nili Lotan we have been able to bridge that divide and bring women feminine pieces that are cut and shaped for their bodies, while still having a slightly tomboy or masculine inspiration within the designs. Canvas Art Dept. continues it’s latest edition of Artist designed t’s with Allois. Allois has successfully shown in the gallery last year (Allois’s Art Work) and we decided to do a few exclusive t’s just for you.
Allois paints presences. Her figures manifest conditions, sliding away from personality and into mood. A particular character may present itself as a child or adult, man or beast, but its identity gives way almost immediately to its nuance. Allois engages the brush and palette of a modern painter, luminously impressionist, impetuously expressionist, oddly surrealist, providing her characters with soul even as she compromises their visual substance – indeed, by compromising that substance. She renders her figures vaguely, but they are not vague; as ciphers for sensations and sensibilities, they must be fuzzy to the eye in order to be credible to the heart.
