the new music: Siddhartha . “Sometimes you get so alone”
If you have been in the shop recently you have probably met Thomas Galasso. Thomas & Patrick O’Brien-Smith directed this video for Siddharta for the single “Sometimes You Get So Alone”, which is in constant rotation at the shop. Stayed tuned because the album will be available at Canvas very soon – enjoy the video. Benny we see you.
the new music: Beyonce . double feature
Caught these videos on the tube today and had to post them – because… have a look and you will know why!!
the new music: seal . let’s stay together
Seal (who has popped into the shop with Heidi and the kids – shameless celebrity plug) covers Al Green’s – “Let’s Stay Togther”. In a strange week where Obama takes a crack at this track at the Apollo, and in the midst of news of his separation from Heidi Klum, Let’s Stay Together is the first track to be released from his new album – “Soul 2″. The album is as Seal puts it “a bit melancohly”, but the tracks he covers are all great classics. Always a Seal fan – stop in to shop because this album will be in heavy rotation. The above video was shot on a river boat in Europe, apparently for a TV show - Enjoy!!!
new music: elle varner ftg. J.cole
2011 was the year of Adele but this new kid on the block Elle Varner caught my attention in midd December and while she may not take the crown from the Grand Dame of the UK – Adele, she is definitely fun to listen, has a great voice and hopefully you will enjoy her as well.
new music: everybody . bentley, kanye, andre 3000
I love this video and wanted to post it for a while. Starting the year off with some new music. From caring Diddy’s umbrella to making music with friends like Andre 3000 and Kanye West – Bentley is taking it back to the Temptations and the groups of yesterday. Enjoy!!!
the new music: Duran Duran . Girl Panic
British rockers Duran Duran have returned to the music scene with a great visual for their new single “Girl Panic!” As one of the initial artists to cast models within their music videos, the band has invited the a few blasts from the supermodel past - Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen, Yasmin Le Bon, Cindy Crawford and Eva Herzigova, to represent the band members. Nick, John and Stephen are nowhere to be found (unless you look very closely) in the intriguing aesthetics but the supermodels do just fine in their absence.
the new music: Coldplay “paradise”
Coldplay’s new video “Paradise” brought to our attention by Nick B – good looking out Sir. The new album Mylo Xyloto out tomorrow and will be found in rotation at the shop before the weeks end. Side Note: riding a uni-cycle is not as easy as it looks – I tried once for several hours and was barely able to pedal 5ft (perhaps it was just me). Enjoy
the new music: rihanna “we found love”
Rihanna’s new video “We found love” feat. Calvin Harris (model/boxer) has debuted at #1 on the UK chart. Rihanna has now scored 6 #1 singles in 5 consecutive years, a record unequalled by any other female solo artist. She also becomes the 3rd female with most #1s in the UK after Madonna (13) and Kylie Minogue (7). Note the quasi- British, Irish, Scottish accent in the beginning of this dark but very cool video. Enjoy
NEW MUSIC: MIGUEL . “QUICKIE” dir.cut
This song with its reggae meets r&b feel caught my attention as VH1 soul played in the background one day – then I saw the video. Everyone tries to create a sexy video, but I think director Alexandre Moors actually did it. This video reminds me of the supermodel videos back in the George Michael, Robert Plant era. This version of the video is the directors cut for “Quickie” by Miguel (who is a local los angeles artist). Enjoy and thank me later.
the new music: Adele “someone like you” video
Adele is just doing it and this is one of our favorite songs from her album “21″. Admittedly I am a sucker for a sad song and this fits the bill. The black-and-white, vintage 8mm-styled clip shows the 23-year-old strolling along the Seine river in a somber state. Simple, clean and effective. Enjoy
