mens footwear: Florsheim broken-in brogue
NEWS FLASH - BROGUES are IN… now you did not need me to tell you that, but hey I just did. Truth about brogues is that they never really go out of style, they are like the button-down shirt of dress shoes – a staple to some a re-occuring trend for others. Continuing on with my button-down reference, Florsheim’s would be the Ralph Lauren of this shoe – they have been making brogues before I was born. Now they have hooked up with Duckie Brown and put a contemporary twist on their product - i.e – the washed leather adds a very cool distressed effect that makes these brogues unlike your dad’s boots. Ohh and did I mention that just being a boot is off the chain. – I’m done

Heeerrreee’s Johnny!!! (I could not help myself). Back in action the Jack Purcell Johnny hi has returned for the holiday season in a black resin dyed canvas with very cool suede overlays. Limited to 250 pairs in the USA – these puppies are good to go and will be smashing to unwrap on that special day. Here are the specs: First String Standards, Jack Purcell Johnny first color way is black on black. The resin treated canvas has a rigid denim fell, that is contrasted by the soft suede overlays of the Johnny. Back in Burgundy and looking fresh. One of the oldest tanneries in the United States, Horween is widely known for its production of fine leathers. For this special release, Converse borrows Horween’s Chromexcel® leather and the results are ultra-luxurious versions of the Pro Leather shoe that looks clean and understated. The Converse Dr. J First String Standard will feature the words “Dr. J” subtly embossed in gold foil on the outer. Converse First String is a limited-edition collection that celebrates craftsmanship, authenticity and collaboration at the highest level. Well it has finall arrived the “Quoddy Grizzly Boot” made axclusively for Canvas. Slightly on the tall side with a 6″ rise above the ankles - this boot is a BOOT. Made with classic moccasin construction , custom navy blue horween leather (yes we like navy), six lacquered eyelets with a 60” rawhide lace. Deerskin bellowed tongue to keep out debris and maintain warmth without bulk and the custom red vibram® sole designed for Quoddy and chosen by us. This boot is unlike anything you could possibly have in your closet – perfect for west coast winters, Malibu cool nights and from Maine to Manhattan 9 months of the year and did I mention the inner glove lining that welcomes your feet home as you put them on (a little cheesy but you get the point). Billy Reid was a brand that I had on the brain after reading about them winning the CFDA Best New Designer in America Award in 2010. I began to inquire about the them and had set a meeting when a conversation with my friend Ryan (who had recently visited them in Texas), convinced me they were going to be great for the shop – when we saw the collection we knew we had found a perfect fit for our shop. One of the great things with the shop is being able to work with some of the best classic american brands. Hiking boots are all the rage in Japan, Europe and the USA, so when we decided to bring them into the shop their was only one option and that was Danner (Made in the USA since 1932). We chose two styles, the “Elkin” (pictured above) for hiking around town and the “Overton” (click through to see) which is your classic hiking boot. Danner has modernized their boots by adding a lighter more comfortable vibram outsole called the “mountain light” (pictured above). Fall11 fashion for men is natty, rugged and rumpled, and hiking boots top off the look perfectly – but if you have an axe, a backpack or an ox named blue and want to take on the great outdoors, these boots are great for getting your grizzly adam’s on!!! Theyyyy’rrreeee Baaaccckkkk!!! Converse and Missoni team up once again with another super cool Chuck Taylor Hi. The colors are great - orange/black space dye and the grey/black zig zag pattern that Missoni is famous for. wmn/men: Comme des garcons “Play” JP’s
Comme des Garcons teamed up with converse to have a go at the Jack Purcell silhouette this time around and what you see above is the outcome. CDG play collection is hot and has been for a few years now, we sort of backed off the brand for a while but the collab sneakers are the cats meow and we try to get our little grubbies on them whenever they are released. For women we brought in the low tops in the white with the red heart and the black with black heart and for men the lo’s in white with the black heart and the lo’s in black with the black heart.
