headlines: the ruins of detroit . photo exhibit
Beautifully Sad. The depressing upshots of deindustrialization within the former capital city of capitalism and symbol of dynamic U.S. economy are captured on a publication prepared by Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre, titled “The Ruins of Detroit.” A five-year collaboration that started in 2005, the much acclaimed body of work is laden with visuals that highlights several abandoned establishments in Detroit, where odds and ends, and ruins – reminiscent of past fallen empires – are common scenery. Aiming to provide a surreal glimpse of the Motown’s former glory with a degree of uncanny beauty, a selection of images from the publication is currently being exhibited at London’s Wilmotte Gallery. Curated by Tristan Hoare and Julien Dobbs-Higginson, the exhibition is slated to run until April 5, 2012.

Comprised of video footage as well as over 170,000 still photographs, this labor of love is something you don’t want to miss. This video is too crazy for words
