As self confessed magazine lovers we are proud to finally announce the arrival of magazines at the shop. Inventory Magazine based in Canada and Art Works based in California, are two great publications that we have followed for sometime. Inventory highlights fashion and the art of design, while Art Works is an amazing commentary on the west coast art scene. Both quarterly publications are selectively distributed , stocked with beautiful visuals and interesting interviews with some of the best artists, whether fashion or fine.  Always working to keep it interesting, we hope that you enjoy our choices.

Inventory Magazine 02  -  The second issue of Inventory magazine includes features and stories from around the world. After traveling to Japan, Europe and through North America they had the chance to meet and spend time with some of our favourite brands and people. Among other things, their latest offering features Margaret Howell, Beams, New Balance, Unis, White Mountaineering, Wm. J. Mills & Co. and The Real McCoy’s.

ARTWORKS Magazine  – is a voice for the arts, striving to give artists a platform to share their stories and their art with a wide audience. Michelangelo, Complete Works

Before reaching the tender age of thirty, Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475-1564) had already sculpted David and Pièta, two of the most famous sculptures in the entire history of art. Like fellow Florentine Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo was a shining star of the Renaissance and a genius of consummate virtuosity. His achievements as a sculptor, painter, draughtsman, and architect are unique—no artist before or after him has ever produced such a vast, multi-faceted, and wide-ranging oeuvre.

Valentino Garavani: the greatest name in Italian couture

For almost half a century Valentino dominated Italian haute couture, dressing the world’s wealthiest and most glamorous women. Lubitel by Lomo

Lomo cameras apart from being really interesting looking and curiously functional, are a camera created in the former Soviet Union that comes with a long and interesting history. Cool pics, easy to use – Great Gift for yourself or someone else.

In 1991, the Austrian founders of Lomography discovered the Lomo LC-A.  As the company states, they were “charmed by the unique, colorful, and sometimes blurry” images that the camera produced. After a series of international art exhibitions , Lomography signed an exclusive distribution agreement with LOMO PLC becoming the sole distributor of all Lomo LC-A cameras outside of the Soviet Union.

 

Lomography emphasizes casual, snapshot photography. Characteristics such as over-saturated colors, off-kilter exposure, blurring, “happy accidents,” and alternative film processing are often considered part of the “Lomographic Technique.”  These cameras encourage a lighthearted approach to  photography, and the use of these techniques to document everyday life, as the Lomo LC-A’s small size, simple controls, and ability to shoot in low light encourages candid photography, photo reportage, and photo vérité .
